Access certification is the formal process in which an authorized reviewer confirms, changes or revokes a person's or non-human identity's access. A certification normally records the reviewer, decision, rationale, timestamp and resulting remediation as audit evidence.
Access certification is often used interchangeably with access review or recertification. Strictly speaking, the review is the examination and the certification is the accountable decision.
