Data Owner

A data owner is the business role accountable for a dataset's classification, permitted use, access requirements, retention and protection.

A data owner is the business role accountable for a dataset's classification, permitted use, access requirements, retention and protection. The owner may approve access directly or delegate operational decisions while remaining accountable for policy.

IGA uses ownership metadata to route requests and reviews to someone who understands the resource's business sensitivity—not merely its technical configuration.
