Identity Attribute

An identity attribute is a governed characteristic—such as department, job code or worker type—used in identity decisions.

An identity attribute is a characteristic associated with an identity, such as worker type, department, job code, manager, location, clearance, contract end date or risk level. Attributes support correlation, policy, role assignment, routing and authorization.

Because incorrect attributes can lead directly to incorrect access, IGA should define authoritative sources, allowed values, owners, update timing and quality controls for material attributes.
