Single Sign-On (SSO)

SSO lets users authenticate through a common identity service and reach multiple applications without separate sign-ins.

Single sign-on (SSO) allows a user to authenticate through a common identity service and access multiple applications without separately entering credentials for each one. SSO commonly uses federation protocols such as SAML or OpenID Connect.

SSO improves sign-in experience and centralizes authentication, but it does not determine whether application access is justified. IGA supplies that governance and lifecycle control.
